Ratatan, Upcoming Game from Patapon's Creator, Postpones Early Access Due to User Feedback

TVT Co. has decided to delay the early access launch of Ratatan, originally scheduled for July 25, citing insufficient time to address issues raised in the demo.

Ratatan, a new rhythm game inspired by the beloved PSP classic Patapon, was expected to enter early access on July 25. However, developer TVT Co. announced a delay to allow more time to address user feedback from the demo that was downloaded over 200,000 times.

This demo received more than 1,200 user reviews and 2,000 comments expressing a range of concerns, which have prompted the team to reconsider their timeline. The studio stated, “The sheer volume of responses has exceeded the team’s expectations!”

As a result, they acknowledged that the planned release date does not allow sufficient time to modify the gameplay in response to the feedback received. Therefore, they have opted to take additional time to adjust and improve the game experience before its full launch.

Among the feedback points highlighted were issues with the tutorial, the satisfaction of the roguelike structure, and visibility problems during gameplay. TVT Co. reassured fans that even with a revised release date, it may not be feasible to implement every suggestion from players. They also identified that Ratatan aims to be an independent experience, despite some fans seeking another iteration of Patapon.

They clarified that Kickstarter supporters can expect some adjustments to rewards to ensure fairness, especially for those waiting longer for console versions. Further updates regarding the new release date will be shared soon.

For those eager to play the original Patapon experience, a PC version is set to launch on July 10.
