Developers of Peak Introduce New Public Beta After Patch Issues Affecting Players

The creators of Peak, a popular co-op climbing game, respond to player complaints about a patch that made the game unplayable by offering a new public beta for testing purposes.

Peak Developers Issue New Beta After Unplayable Patch

The indie co-op climbing game, Peak, which has gained rapid popularity, faced criticism due to a patch causing numerous players to be unable to play. In response, its developers, Aggro Crab and Landfall, have decided to launch a public beta testing branch for players.

Background

Initially designed for a game jam, Peak was not expected to handle the load of significant gameplay by thousands of users concurrently. Recently, the following statement was released:

“The sheer number of people playing this game means that we’re often hearing about hardware or network-specific issues that our internal testers have a lot of trouble catching because, well, there aren’t 100,000 of them. Recently this resulted in a patch going live that made a number of players totally unable to play the game, and we had to roll it back immediately. That’s bad.”

With new beta access, players can now test upcoming features and provide feedback before any future updates go live to the broader player base. Developers remain committed to ensuring the game’s stability and improving the overall gaming experience.
