John Gonzalez Rejoins Obsidian After 14-Year Hiatus: Not for Fallout: New Vegas 2

The lead writer of Fallout: New Vegas, John Gonzalez, returns to Obsidian Entertainment after a lengthy absence, clarifying that he is not working on a sequel.

John Gonzalez has made a return to Obsidian Entertainment after a 14-year gap during which he contributed to games like “Guardians of Middle-earth”, “Horizon Zero Dawn”, and “Horizon Forbidden West”. However, fans of Fallout: New Vegas might be disappointed to learn that his new role is not for a sequel.

“I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Creative Director at Obsidian Entertainment!”

“Back to Obsidian for exciting times! (No, it’s not FNV2.)”

Gonzalez’s contributions to Fallout: New Vegas were significant and, as clarified by lead designer Josh Sawyer, he played a pivotal role in shaping the game’s narrative, including the main plot and major character development.

While he reassures fans that he isn’t back for New Vegas 2, there is still hope for some undisclosed Fallout project in the future. Meanwhile, Obsidian is working on The Outer Worlds 2, expected to be released later this year.
