Dr Disrespect's YouTube Remonetization Sparks Controversy Following Midnight Society's Closure

Following the closure of Midnight Society, Dr Disrespect has been allowed to monetize his YouTube channel again, raising questions about YouTube's policies.

On the same day Midnight Society announced its closure, Guy Beahm, known as Dr Disrespect, revealed that his YouTube channel has been remonetized. This decision followed seven months after his channel was demonetized due to inappropriate communications with a minor.

YouTube confirmed this change via a statement. A spokesperson said:

“Dr Disrespect was previously suspended from the YouTube Partner Program for violations of our Creator Responsibility policies. Creators who are suspended from this program can reapply for access, and after careful review of the channel’s recent activity, we’ve reinstated it. If there are further violations, we’ll take appropriate action.”

According to YouTube’s policies, content creators can apply for reinstatement after addressing the issues that led to their demonetization. Despite the suspension being unrelated to his content, Beahm was penalized due to the allegations he confirmed regarding inappropriate direct messages.

The controversy surrounding his remonetization raised questions about YouTube’s commitment to community safety and standards. Critics argued that reinstating Beahm sends conflicting messages regarding accountability for serious infractions.

In a strange coincidence, Beahm’s remonetization coincided with Midnight Society’s announcement of its closure. This studio, co-founded by Beahm along with Robert Bowling and Quinn Delhoyo, is shut down without having released their in-development game, Deadrop. Beahm had parted ways with the studio in June 2024 after the allegations surfaced.
