Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was launched on PC recently, continuing the trend of PlayStation exclusives making their way to the platform after a couple of years. Despite an overall favorable reception on consoles, the transition appears to have encountered some issues with the port by the studio Nixxes.
“Hold off on buying until they get a couple of stabilization patches out because holy hell,” says Lumi Kløvstad. Translation: “Wait for some patches before buying because this is a disaster.”
Players report a plethora of performance issues, including lighting failures in cutscenes, extreme lag, audio mismatches, and frequent crashes. Another player, Xtreme Hot Diarrhea, noted, “it’s crashing every 10 minutes” due to difficulties in GPU settings.
With over 2,000 evaluations, the reviews are split, but those using higher-end graphics cards seem to be facing more difficulties. Players have observed the game malfunctioning when they attempt to change graphics settings, resulting in crashes during cutscenes.
Robin Valentine, a Senior Editor, mentioned, “It seemed to run pretty smoothly for me, but it just hard locked and crashed to desktop 10 minutes in.” In contrast, Dave Jones, a Video Editor, noted he had to update his drivers to resolve crashing but experienced good performance otherwise.
Recently, the game received its first hotfix aimed at addressing major hangs that could occur during ray-tracing gameplay. If you’re considering purchasing Spider-Man 2, it might be wise to wait for further updates before diving in.
