Cairn Soars as a New Climbing Sim Hits 500k Downloads After Support from Peak's Developers
The climbing game Cairn has remarkably surpassed 500,000 demo downloads, bolstered by positive nods from the developers of the hit game Peak.
Good news emerges from the gaming community: After surpassing two million copies sold in a mere two days, the developers of the climbing game Peak have extended their support to fellow climbing sim Cairn, leading to a significant boost in download numbers.
The collaborative gesture began on X, known as ‘The Everything App,’ when the developers at The Game Bakers, creators of Cairn, shared a video showcasing Peak’s Bing Bong character, a plushie that players are required to carry throughout the game for an achievement. Peak co-developer Landfall Games humorously remarked, “Cairn might be peak,” hinting at the growing camaraderie between the games.
Following this, on June 27th, The Game Bakers reported that Cairn had exceeded 500,000 demo downloads, indicating the positive impact of Peak’s recent success on independent developers. Both games focus on climbing mechanics, but while Peak emphasizes cooperative fun, Cairn offers a more introspective experience.
You can experience Cairn’s demo on Steam ahead of its November 5 release, while Peak is available on Steam for just eight bucks. PC Gaming Show Editorial Director Jake Tucker praised Cairn, stating it might be the best climbing game he’s ever experienced.
