A new The Elder Scrolls 6 trailer is reportedly circulating at Bethesda, according to a recent industry insider report. While it’s unconfirmed whether this video is in the process of being tweaked for publication, the claim itself implies that The Elder Scrolls 6 development is progressing at a satisfactory pace.
June 10 marked the seventh anniversary of Bethesda officially announcing TES 6 with a brief video teaser showcased at E3 2018. The highly awaited sequel to Skyrim entered pre-production at some point in the five years that followed. In August 2023, Bethesda confirmed that TES 6 had started active development once the bulk of the work on Starfield was completed. The Microsoft-owned company has shared little additional information about the project since then.
Rumors suggest that the internal trailer may not be for public viewing. If Corden’s claims hold true, there are two likely explanations for Bethesda opting to allocate resources toward creating a new TES 6 trailer at this point. One speculated purpose could be that they are preparing for an official reveal of the game and are gathering internal feedback on the anticipated reveal trailer. However, trailers meant for public distribution are rarely circulated within a company, especially in studios the size of Bethesda. It is more common in AAA development to have internal-only trailers made for milestone updates, executive reviews, platform holder feedback, or cross-team alignment.
Despite the rumors suggesting the trailer may not be intended for the public, its existence leads to speculation that The Elder Scrolls 6 development is advanced enough to warrant a visual status report for senior management. Given Bethesda’s standard development practices, the game could feasibly be prepared for release by late 2028, suggesting that its official reveal might not be too distant.
However, Corden believes it is improbable that TES 6 will be showcased at Gamescom, the next major gaming event scheduled for August. Still, if the project is on target for a 2028 release, Bethesda will likely reveal it in the near future. For context, Starfield was showcased 15 months before its release but did not bear the same anticipation of a sequel that has waited decades to be announced.
