Chris Avellone Partners with Former Quantic Dream Writer for New RPG
Noted writer Chris Avellone returns to the gaming scene, collaborating with a former Quantic Dream author to develop a dark fantasy role-playing game.
Chris Avellone, who faced significant controversy in the gaming industry due to past allegations, has recently made a comeback by joining the newly established Republic Games. This studio was founded in 2024 by Adam Williams, a former lead writer at Quantic Dream.
Avellone has a rich history of contributing to major RPGs and is known for his interactive storytelling abilities. Williams expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Chris has written, created, and designed for some of the greatest RPGs of all time.” They aim to develop a dark fantasy game that seeks to enhance the genre with immersive gameplay and deep narratives.
“Chris was at the forefront of the golden age of RPGs… This project will include combat, character creation, and more, featuring a story that intertwines prophecy and the supernatural,” Williams added.
Avellone himself was impressed by the design principles Williams proposed, calling it a rare opportunity to collaborate on the ground floor of a major project. The studio has ambitious plans for a game that will feature various factions, allowing players to define their heroes or antiheroes.
Following the allegations in 2020, which were later settled in his favor, Avellone hopes this collaboration will mark a new chapter in his career, highlighting that he is committed to the positive evolution of the gaming industry.
