A new Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket rumor hints at imminent modifications to the game’s trading system. Following its release, players eagerly awaited the inclusion of direct card trading, which debuted in January 2025 but received mixed reviews.
Many players appreciated the feature, yet others expressed dissatisfaction, particularly regarding the high trading token costs and limitations on certain cards.
After considerable feedback, deNA pledged to modify the system, pledging more frequent distribution of tokens. Further changes, including potential elimination of trade tokens, were indicated in a follow-up announcement from March 13.
Recently, a leak suggests that the community can expect additional adjustments soon. According to a source on the Pokemon TCG Pocket subreddit, an update is expected on July 29, which could involve replacing trade tokens with a new currency called Shinedust. The conversion for tokens to Shinedust will reportedly be unlimited, starting with a minimum conversion rate of one token for ten Shinedust.
Moreover, it’s reported that up to 60 trade tokens can be exchanged for 60 packs of a new item, Hourglasses. Players will also have the option to create card wishlists visible to trading partners to enhance communication. However, the specific Shinedust costs for trades and exclusions for certain card types remain unclear.
Stay tuned for official announcements from the developers while the community awaits further clarification on these anticipated changes.
