Important Release for GameCube Enthusiasts Arriving on July 3
Nintendo is set to enhance its GameCube app with the addition of Super Mario Strikers for fans to enjoy from July 3.
On June 26, Nintendo announced that Super Mario Strikers will be available on the Nintendo Switch Online service through the GameCube app starting July 3. Super Mario Strikers marks the fourth playable game accessible via the GameCube app, which is limited to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers who have the Expansion Pack upgrade.
Originally released in late 2005, Super Mario Strikers is a five-a-side soccer game developed by Nintendo and Next Level Games. Each team features a captain such as Mario, Luigi, or Peach, accompanied by three sidekick characters like Toad and Koopa, and a Kritter as the goalkeeper. Players can acquire famous Mario power-ups like the Mushroom or Star to enhance their performance during matches. Notably, Super Mario Strikers is also the last title of the Mario franchise released on the GameCube in North America and Japan before the launch of the Wii in 2006.
Players who can access the GameCube app will only need to wait until Thursday, July 3, to add this beloved title to their libraries. A trailer shared on social media showcases the game’s rapid gameplay. The app will include titles like F-Zero GX, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and Soulcalibur 2 as part of its lineup.
Additionally, the popularity of Super Mario Strikers has attracted clones eager to capitalize on its success. In January 2025, an Xbox title named Mariostro Strikers: Soccer League briefly appeared on the Microsoft Store before being removed, raising questions about its likeness to the original franchise.
With Super Mario Strikers set to launch and the upcoming Super Mario Party Jamboree edition for the Switch 2, fans of Mario will have an exciting lineup this July.
