Sonic the Hedgehog, known for its speed, is collaborating with McLaren Racing, a partnership highlighted by Sega. This exciting news comes amidst a series of thrilling game releases for Sonic, including Sonic Frontiers and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, which debuts later this year. This new kart racing game promises players an exhilarating ride through dimensions to gain the upper hand against competitors.

Sonic’s track record of crossovers continues with the game, featuring partnerships with franchises such as Like a Dragon and SpongeBob SquarePants. Furthermore, he joins forces with the Justice League in a current comic crossover with IDW/DC.

In the recent announcement shared by McLaren via Twitter, it was revealed that the collaboration will be part of Sonic Team’s “Racing Around the World” campaign, celebrating both Sonic’s 35th anniversary and McLaren’s 1,000th Grand Prix.

Sonic Teams Up With McLaren Racing

Sega describes the partnership as a reunion decades in the making, referencing the 1993 Formula One European Grand Prix where Sega sponsored the Williams Racing team. Ayrton Senna, a McLaren driver, won the race while holding a special Sonic-themed trophy.

“Racing is in the DNA of both the Sonic and McLaren brands,” commented Vice President of Brand Marketing, Marcella Churchill, expressing hopes that this crossover will delight fans from both worlds. McLaren’s CMO, Louise McEwen, added their excitement to embrace Sonic into the racing family and attract a younger audience ahead of the game’s launch on September 25, 2025.
