A Fresh Update for Nuclear Throne After a Decade: Enhanced Controls and Quality of Life Changes

The beloved roguelike Nuclear Throne has received a surprise beta update on Steam, introducing various quality of life enhancements.

An all-new Nuclear Throne beta build is now live on Steam, bringing numerous improvements aimed at enhancing gameplay.

In a statement, Vlambeer announced:

“Good news for (future) Nuclear Throne fans: there’s an updated beta build on Steam with many quality of life improvements like 120fps support, different aspect ratios, and a new controls menu! Oh, and a new melting loading screen tip. 馃槑”

Moreover, this update marks a significant milestone for the game, which was originally released ten years ago. Nuclear Throne was praised in 2015 as a “crowning achievement for Vlambeer,” yet it hasn’t seen significant updates until now.

For those wanting to access the new Steam beta, players can navigate to their Steam library, right-click on Nuclear Throne, select “Properties,” then find the beta option in the dropdown labeled openbeta_win64. Follow the prompts to enjoy smoother gaming.

With its return, fans are excited for what else could arise from Vlambeer, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2020 but briefly closed its doors, returning later without co-founder Rami Ismail.
