
Two free titles are expected to be available on the Epic Games Store starting July 3: Figment and Backpack Hero.
Originally released on December 6, 2018, the Epic Games Store kicked off its weekly giveaways a week later, featuring Subnautica, an underwater survival horror game, from December 12 to December 27 to entice new users onto its platform.
Currently, players can download The Operator for free until Thursday, June 26 at 10:00 AM CT. Afterward, Sable, known for its unique visual style and open world filled with ancient civilization remnants, will be available for free from June 26 to July 3. It is accompanied by an original soundtrack from the American indie pop band Japanese Breakfast.
According to Reddit user MeguminShiro, the games Figment and Backpack Hero will be offered at no cost from July 3 to July 10. Figment is an action-adventure puzzle game where players accompany old man Dusty and his upbeat friend Piper on a quest to recover Dusty’s lost scrapbook. Previously listed as a free game in 2020, this is another opportunity for players to add it to their library in July.
Figment and Backpack Hero will be available for free on Epic in July.
Developed by indie studio Jaspel, Backpack Hero is an inventory management game featuring anthropomorphic animals battling various foes while organizing their supplies during dungeon-crawling missions. Although its pixel-art aesthetic is charming, new players might find its unique mechanics and tough opponents challenging to navigate.
For nearly seven years, the Epic Games Store has been a source of free games for gamers, and it has given away over 500 titles including both obscure indie projects and major releases like Grand Theft Auto 5. Despite many players favoring Valve’s Steam, the Epic Games Store continues to draw in budget-conscious gamers waiting for fantastic giveaways.
