One popular accessory for the Nintendo Switch 2, designed to enhance the console’s handling in undocked mode, has been reported to cause disconnections of Joy-Cons from the main unit. The Dbrand Killswitch 2 case has drawn numerous complaints from users, leading its creators to offer replacements.
One key enhancement of the Nintendo Switch 2 compared to its predecessor is the revamped Joy-Con controllers, which now feature larger buttons and improved functionality. Notably, the connection mechanism to the console has shifted to a magnetic system, replacing the previous slider and button method.
However, users utilizing the Dbrand Killswitch 2 case are experiencing connectivity issues, particularly when holding the console almost parallel to the ground with one Joy-Con. The design element that secures the casing is interfering with a crucial gap intended to prevent the Joy-Cons from making contact with the console base under stress. Despite these issues, Dbrand insists that their current solution is preferable to using adhesives.
Dbrand’s Response
In light of negative feedback following the initial acknowledgment of the problem, Dbrand is providing free replacement grips with a thinner design. These replacements will be available soon, and the company plans to find a more effective permanent solution after testing a prototype in July 2025.
