The game Dune: Awakening has achieved a dramatic milestone, amassing one million players within just weeks of its launch, standing as Funcom’s fastest-selling title to date. The game’s entry into the survival genre brings an exciting twist to the beloved sci-fi franchise.
Upon its release on June 10 for PC, the title saw a surge in popularity, surpassing 140,000 concurrent players on launch day and peaking at over 189,000 simultaneous players within six days. These figures contributed to its strong critical reception, with an OpenCritic score of 81, attributing much of its success to positive reviews and player engagement.
Funcom’s incredible progress mirrors its previous success with Conan Exiles, which took a year to reach similar sales figures. An infographic shared by the developer highlighted significant player activity, such as over 66,000 players lost to vicious sandstorms and more than half a million Ornithopters created.
With plans to maintain this momentum, Funcom is actively working on updates aimed at improving player experience while tackling further queries regarding console releases, hinting at a possible launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
