Developers of Crimson Desert Address Release Date Speculations

Pearl Abyss responds to rumors regarding the release schedule for the anticipated game Crimson Desert, affirming that no official date has been set.

Recent rumors surrounding the eagerly anticipated release of Crimson Desert have been clarified by its developer, Pearl Abyss, in response to speculation about a potential November release. The action-adventure game follows the protagonist Kliff and his comrades, the Greymanes, as they journey through the realm of Pywel.

Crimson Desert garnered significant attention during its first gameplay reveal at The Game Awards 2020, showcasing impressive open-world exploration, fluid combat, and stunning visuals. Initially, Pearl Abyss aimed for a winter 2021 release, but later postponed the game to allocate more time for enhancements.

The studio recently unveiled a new trailer during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023, highlighting advancements in graphic quality and introducing exciting new features, including shops and interactive animal companions.

Just a few months ago, a trailer revealed plans for a late 2025 release for Crimson Desert. Despite a report from Korean outlet MTN claiming a probable release date of November 2, 2025, Pearl Abyss promptly refuted the statement, asserting that they had not given any official date to MTN and that any future announcements will be made in due time.

Hopefully, Crimson Desert will adhere to its intended timeline without further delays. Pearl Abyss has reiterated plans for a simultaneous global release across PC and consoles. Notably, reports suggest that Sony sought exclusivity for the title, but Pearl Abyss chose to self-publish, believing this approach offers better long-term benefits due to their established international distribution network.

Moreover, recent claims imply that Crimson Desert may be available on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, opening avenues for a broader audience. However, concerns about whether the Switch 2 can match the graphical fidelity and performance of more powerful consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S remain prevalent, potentially influencing the game’s ambitious graphics.
