Dreamsettler, the Sequel to Hypnospace Outlaw, Faces Cancellation: 'We've Overextended'
The sequel to the acclaimed game Hypnospace Outlaw, titled Dreamsettler, has been cancelled due to budget constraints and scope issues, as revealed by the lead developer.
Lead developer Jay Tholen announced on YouTube that the highly anticipated sequel Dreamsettler to the popular game Hypnospace Outlaw has been cancelled. He explained that the project faced overwhelming scope issues, stating, “We just way overscoped.” Tholen admitted that efforts to maintain the project’s ambitious plans ultimately led to its demise as some key features could not be implemented within the budget, which drastically affected motivation. The announcement comes alongside the release of an FPS spinoff titled Slayers X, which came out in 2023. Dreamsettler had a Steam page touting its impending release, but now it has become another chapter in the evolving narrative of game development challenges.
