GOG's New Modding Program Aims for Better User Experience

GOG is launching a new one-click modding program, learning from its previous Daggerfall experience to better support mod creators and users.

GOG has announced that it will not repeat the mistakes made with the Daggerfall Unity GOG Cut in their upcoming one-click modding program. Previously, the GOG Cut was a pre-modded version of The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall built on fan-engineered software, but it suffered from outdated mods and compatibility issues.

With the new program, GOG aims to provide seamless access to popular mods, allowing users to install content like Skyblivion efficiently. The initiative reflects lessons learned from past experiences, particularly regarding mod updates and management.

GOG’s Rudy de Marco emphasized the intent to empower mod creators with better access and communications, ensuring that they can maintain their mods effectively. This program could enhance GOG’s standing in the modding community, especially amid concerns about alternative platforms transitioning towards monetization.
