BioWare's Veteran Developers Confirm Layoffs Following EA's Restructuring

Several seasoned writers and developers from BioWare, known for their work on titles like Dragon Age and Mass Effect, have confirmed their layoffs amid the studio's downsizing by EA.

EA previously announced a downsizing of BioWare but avoided specifics regarding layoffs. However, veteran developers confirmed their exit shortly after the announcement.

Among those laid off are notable figures such as Karin Weekes, who worked as an editor on Mass Effect and other major titles, and Trick Weekes, known for his writing on Mass Effect.

Ryan Cormier and Jennifer Cheverie are also confirmed to have left, alongside other seasoned professionals. These layoffs come amid ongoing restructuring attempts and revelations about the performance of the latest Dragon Age installment.

The exodus represents a significant loss for BioWare, echoing similar layoffs in the past where the creative talent pool was severely diminished, putting long-time fans of the studio and their storytelling legacy on alert.
