Skyblivion Reimagines Oblivion's Dungeons: A Complete Transformation

The Skyblivion team is upgrading Oblivion’s dungeons, addressing their shortcomings and enhancing gameplay.

In my experience with Oblivion Remastered, I’ve realized that the dungeons can be quite disappointing. They often feel overly complex and repetitive, culminating in minimal rewards, usually just a small amount of gold and an inconsequential item.

It wasn’t until Skyrim that Bethesda figured out how to create more engaging dungeon experiences, where players could expect significant rewards for their efforts, like enchanted weapons or special abilities.

During my discussion with Rebelzize, the lead developer of Skyblivion, he revealed that enhancing dungeon design is a primary focus of their upcoming remake of Oblivion within Skyrim.

“For many players revisiting Oblivion, it can be frustrating due to design elements that feel outdated. This is still evident in the remaster from Bethesda, which is significantly different from our approach with Skyblivion.” said Rebelzize. He emphasized that they are redesigning nearly every aspect of the game to enhance the experience.

For example, in the boss areas of Skyrim, players can loop back to where they started after defeating the boss, unlike in Oblivion. In the original game, interaction and rewards felt largely absent, manufacturing a disjointed experience for players.

Rebelzize aims to make dungeons enjoyable and rewarding, moving beyond simple distractions. This ambitious remake is expected to realign gaming history and create lasting relevance within the Elder Scrolls fanbase.
