Rematch Launched Without Crossplay Due to Technical Hurdles, Despite Strong Steam Launch
Sloclap acknowledges its oversight in communicating crossplay availability for its new soccer game, Rematch, which has still seen great success on Steam.
With the 5v5 soccer game Rematch now fully released, developer Sloclap has expressed regret for delaying communication regarding the absence of crossplay at launch. The studio confirmed that it had initially planned for crossplay but encountered unforeseen technical complexities that hindered its readiness.
“We understand many of you were looking forward to playing Rematch across platforms from day one,” Sloclap stated shortly after the game’s release. “We did our utmost to include crossplay at launch, but Rematch is the studio’s first crossplay title, and we faced unforeseen technical complexities which prevented us from having this feature ready in time.”
The promise of crossplay remains a high priority for Sloclap, which is currently focused on addressing performance issues like lag and stuttering. Meanwhile, Rematch has experienced a robust player count, reportedly reaching approximately 93,000 concurrently on its first day, demonstrating strong player interest despite the lack of crossplay.
