World of Warcraft may have just hinted at a potential third specialization for Demon Hunters while showcasing a boss encounter in the new raid from Patch 11.2. Although nothing has been officially announced, a battle involving a council of Demon Hunters in Manaforge Omega might contain clues about significant updates for this class introduced in the Legion expansion.
Recently, Blizzard unveiled World of Warcraft Patch 11.2, titled Ghosts of K’aresh. This substantial update leads players to the Void-shattered homeland of the Ethereals and Brokers. Among its many features, one of the highlights is the Season 3 raid in Manaforge Omega, culminating in a battle against Dimensius, the All-Devouring – the Void Lord accountable for the planet’s destruction.
During a recent reveal on WoWCast, lead encounter designer Drew De Sousa described one boss encounter as “a mysterious council of Demon Hunters who have found their way onto K’aresh.” Notably, one Demon Hunter dons lighter armor indicative of the Havoc specialization, while another sports heavier equipment resembling the Vengeance style. A third demon hunter has uniquely distinct traits, wielding shadow-infused weaponry and armor reflective of the Shadowguard Ethereals. This character could potentially signal an unannounced third specialization.
Most classes in World of Warcraft feature three available specializations, with Druid and Demon Hunter as exceptions, as Druids enjoy four specialization types while Demon Hunters currently only have two. Given that Blizzard has historically added new specializations very rarely, the presence of Demon Hunters in the raid certainly stirs excitement and speculation among fans regarding the future direction of their class.
