The Murder Sandbox of Streets of Fortuna
Streets of Fortuna is a city simulation that captivates players with its vibrant NPC dynamics. Developed by Kitfox Games, it portrays an ancient, Constantinople-like city that mirrors the complexities of social interactions and individual needs among its residents. In today’s showcase, Brent Ellison, the lead designer, introduces the game’s intricate NPC behavior systems.
In the current phase, the game is able to simulate about 1000 NPCs with plans to expand this to 3000 soon. These characters are embedded in a microcosm where they navigate their daily lives, interact, and cater to their instinctual needs. The goal is to create a world where players can engage with the landscape as subtle manipulators, orchestrating events like poisoning and influencing the NPCs’ actions with unrestricted creativity.
The game is presently still in development without a confirmed release date, but its ambition to create a complex simuled environment sets expectations high among fans of genre-defining simulation games.
