Major Board Game Publisher Sells Zombicide to Asmodee

In a surprising move, CMON sells its flagship game Zombicide to Asmodee amid challenges in the board gaming industry.

CMON has made headlines by selling its flagship board game, Zombicide, to Asmodee. Initially a hit when launched with a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2012, Zombicide has seen many iterations since.

CMON, which was originally known as CoolMiniOrNot.com, surprised fans with this decision as the game has been a cornerstone of its portfolio. Meanwhile, the company is currently facing significant challenges, including delayed crowdfunding rewards and the adverse impacts of US-China tariffs affecting production.

The sale of Zombicide mirrors notable shifts in the industry, akin to seeing an iconic character like Sonic sold by Sega. Asmodee, a major player in tabletop gaming, now adds Zombicide to its collection of popular board games, including Catan and Ticket to Ride.
