An Indie Game Surpasses Fortnite's Player Count Record

The new farming simulator Grow a Garden has reached unprecedented highs with over 16 million concurrent players on Roblox.

The newly launched farming simulator, Grow a Garden, has astonishingly hit 16 million concurrent players on Roblox. This achievement has shattered previous records, notably marking the first time a Roblox game surpassed 5 million players. This milestone could signal a fierce competition against some of gaming’s biggest titles.

Grow a Garden adopts the staple mechanics of idle farming games: plant, harvest, sell, and automate. Unlike its counterparts, however, it features a unique twist—plants continue to grow even when players are offline. Thus, after caring for their crops, players can leave the game and return to find their plants fully matured.

The sheer simplicity of the gameplay may not appeal to everyone’s taste, but it has already drawn in millions of players. As it stands, Grow a Garden has created quite a buzz within the community and continues to attract more users.

In recent comparisons, Grow a Garden outpaced Fortnite, which previously held the record with just over 14 million players during a live event. However, it’s essential to note that since reaching this peak, the number of concurrent players has tapered back to the game’s usual average of around 3 million.

One point of controversy within the player community pertains to allegations of widespread bot usage, leading some players to question the legitimacy of the record-breaking numbers. On the contrary, many believe that the game’s engaging and relaxed gameplay contributes to its huge appeal, drawing both younger audiences and adults.

As new updates are expected soon, Grow a Garden is poised for further growth in its player base. Players eagerly anticipate new content that could include additional plants, pets, and gardening items, suggesting it may soon become one of the most beloved games ever.
