The latest patch for Cities: Skylines 2 comes with exciting features, including real quays and piers, offering new gameplay mechanics that eliminate the need for players to create impromptu coastal structures. These enhancements are designed to make building waterfronts more intuitive and enjoyable.
“We’ve seen how you have used the cut-and-fill roads to create makeshift quays in your cities, but we also know how challenging they can be to build,” a recent blog post states. “Where roads and pedestrian paths are designed to follow the terrain, quays detect the slightest change in elevation and create a retaining wall on the lower side.”
Players can choose from three quay sizes, ranging from a narrow pedestrian-only version to wider options that accommodate both pedestrians and vehicles.
In addition to quays, the patch also introduces piers, which can serve as enjoyable spaces for pedestrians and include multiple configuration options to create complex networking.
Bug fixes aimed specifically at cargo transportation have also been implemented as part of this update, optimizing gameplay while waiting for the long-anticipated Bridges and Ports expansion. For a detailed list of all fixes, players are directed to the full patch notes.
The patch not only makes gameplay smoother but also encourages creative city building with more flexibility and options. Players can eagerly anticipate what the future updates hold!
