Reddit User Creates a Stunning Retro PC Setup Inspired by 'Alien'

A Redditor crafts an impressive retrofuturistic PC setup reminiscent of classic sci-fi aesthetics without using 3D printing.

In a creative endeavor reminiscent of classic cinema, a Redditor named Arthur, hailing from Ukraine, has designed a captivating retrofuturistic PC setup. Influenced primarily by the visuals from the iconic film ‘Alien’, Arthur has managed to create an aesthetic that feels both nostalgic and unique.

This multi-screen setup is notable for its handcrafted elements. Unlike many modern builds that rely heavily on 3D printing, Arthur’s construction utilizes wood as the primary material, giving it a distinct and tactile feel. He explains the meticulous process involved: “I made it with wood as the inner frame, plywood as the outer body. I filled in some particularly difficult parts with automotive putty…”

Arthur notes that the most challenging aspect of the project was achieving believable geometric shapes without the precision of 3D printing. “I had to spend a lot of time making the case look like something that was created in a real production facility.”

With cutting-edge components like the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU and Ryzen 9 5900X CPU nestled within, Arthur’s setup harmoniously balances retro design with modern performance. He expresses his love for retro PCs, stating, “The visual component of retro technology from the ’80s, ’90s, and early 2000s evokes sincerely pleasant emotions for me.”

Arthur’s impressive craft has garnered a positive reception online, inspiring him to consider selling his creations in the future. He is also preparing a detailed video to share his build process, showcasing the intricate work behind his retrofuturistic vision.
