Inzoi's Publisher Highlights Sales Over Steam Players in Competition with The Sims

Krafton emphasizes the importance of sales figures over concurrent players for the newly launched life sim, Inzoi, which is competing against The Sims.

Inzoi, a new competitor in the life simulation genre, has experienced an interesting trajectory since its launch. Despite selling over a million copies in the first week, it has seen a significant drop in concurrent players, with its latest peak recorded at just 2,761, compared to an all-time high of 87,377 players.

Krafton, the publisher of Inzoi, spoke with IGN, stating that “Inzoi continues to steadily generate sales and that player counts are not the ultimate measure of the game’s success since it’s a single-player experience. They argue that tracking sales during major updates provides a more accurate depiction of the game’s health.

As players observe the decreasing numbers, many critiques highlight that while attractive in appearance, the game lacks depth. This feedback has been reflected in the mixed reviews circulating on platforms like Steam.

Inzoi’s situation raises concerns when compared to its major competitor, The Sims, which has nearly 19,000 players engaged currently, even years after its release. While Inzoi may be performing adequately as an early access title, its challenge remains stark against The Sims, implying a struggle to solidify itself in a space dominated by an established franchise.
