Hideo Kojima’s upcoming game, Death Stranding 2, is set to release on PS5 on June 26. A PC version will arrive later. The new title promises to incorporate significantly more espionage elements compared to its predecessor.
Recent interviews show Kojima has been contemplating themes of death and legacy as he discusses plans for the future of his company. He aims to leave behind a USB stick filled with ideas for his staff to follow after he’s gone, expressing his desire to avoid the straightforward methodology of passing the baton directly to anyone.
Kojima stated:
“I am not going to pass the baton to anyone—I will rather crush the baton. If I pass the baton to my staff and tell them to make things the same way I do, the company will not succeed and will go out of business.”
As he approaches his later years, he acknowledges the importance of shaping his legacy in the gaming industry to inspire future creators without replicating his practices directly.
