Recently, Bill Gates expressed his concern over Elon Musk’s political influence, stating, “It’s really insane that he can destabilise the political situations in countries.” Gates is particularly worried about Musk’s support for Germany’s far-right party, Alternative for Germany (AfD). The Microsoft co-founder described Musk’s belief that Nigel Farage isn’t right-wing enough as “insane shit.”
In a detailed interview with The Times, Gates reflected on Musk’s actions post-Trump’s inauguration, including gestures that some interpreted as Nazi salutes. Gates emphasized the potential dangers of billionaires like Musk interfering in foreign politics, suggesting countries may need to enforce safeguards to prevent such distortions in their political landscapes.
He also referred to Musk’s unfounded accusations against UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer regarding a supposed grooming coverup, which have gained traction among certain far-right supporters, including UK activist Tommy Robinson.
Gates concluded that while private citizens with significant influence should focus on specific issues, they shouldn’t advocate broadly for certain political parties, a stance he believes could lead to more harm than good.
