Developers Reshape Rust's Dense Rainforest After Players Struggle to Find Resources
Facepunch Studios updates the rainforest biome in Rust to address challenges players faced in locating resources.
In the latest update for the survival game Rust, developed by Facepunch Studios, a new jungle biome has been introduced, which has sparked several changes due to player feedback. As the developers explained, the rainforest’s thickness posed significant challenges for players attempting to locate resources, prompting them to announce tweaks to make finding resources easier.
The feedback they received highlighted that players were often unable to find crucial elements, leading them to say, “The jungle was a bit too good at being a jungle.”
To combat this, the team made alterations that affect how resources spawn within the rainforest, such as making wild hemp bushes more distinguishable with taller stalks and changing the density around rock formations to encourage more ore nodes to appear. The update also includes enhancements to the indoor lighting system throughout the game, allowing players a better view of their surroundings when navigating in and out of interiors.
Aside from the resource modifications, Facepunch added new gameplay elements to the jungle, including vehicles appearing along new paths, thereby giving players a faster means of escape from predators.
