How to Receive a Unique Relic from Elden Ring Nightreign's Tutorial Boss

Learn how to get a special relic by defeating the tutorial boss in Elden Ring Nightreign, and discover how to replay the encounter if you missed it.

In the traditional style of FromSoftware, Elden Ring Nightreign opens with an unwinnable fight. Players can, however, manage to overcome the tutorial boss, which rewards them with a unique relic that’s helpful in the early game. While this relic isn’t revolutionary, it can be beneficial as you develop your gear.

To replay the tutorial fight, navigate to the Visual Codex located in the Roundtable Hold. This book is found on a desk just north of the jar merchant in the fort’s western hall. Simply access it, and you can warp to restart the tutorial at any time.

Instructions to Replay the Tutorial:

  1. Press Select to enter the Visual Codex and select Guide.
  2. Choose Basic Rules: Play Tutorial from the highlighted menu.
  3. Start the fight by pressing the X button.

Tips for Beating Margit in the Tutorial:

  • You’ll start as a low-level Wylder, but there are plenty of resources available.
  • Utilize weapons like the Cold Katar and Rogier’s Rapier, both guaranteed drops.
  • Focus on inflicting Frostbite with the Katar and switch to the Rapier for damage.
  • Make use of the NPC, Duchess, who can deal substantial damage and tank some hits.
  • Save your ultimates strategically; you can revive the Duchess if needed later.

This retraining experience emphasizes Elden Ring’s insistent challenge paired with the occasional surprises that delight players. It captures the essence of engaging with the game’s often obtuse yet rewarding mechanics.
