Morrowind Without Textures Becomes a Colorful Dream

A vivid recollection of playing Morrowind as it turns into a psychedelic experience without its textures.

A Psychedelic Adventure

In my early twenties, I took a trip with some friends to Amsterdam. Recently out of a long-term relationship, I sought to explore life in new ways. On the third day, we stayed in a cabin surrounded by nature and indulged in mushrooms. Hours later, I found myself in an eerily beautiful world where everything shimmered with purple light, particularly the trees that appeared to sway towards me. While everything was surreal, our fun was also marred by moments of panic, like when a can was knocked over or a friend almost caught a chicken.

Watching Micky D’s latest video where he deletes all textures from Morrowind, I felt transported back to those vibrant experiences. This method transforms the famed RPG into a bizarre magenta world, making mundane tasks like inventory management a comical challenge but also providing a fresh, entertaining way to revisit a beloved game.

If you want to experience Morrowind in this vibrant new way, Micky’s video walks you through how to do it yourself.
