Ever imagined if secretive international terror groups had HR departments? It’s a peculiar thought that I reflect on while playing Cyber Warrior, a simulation game that places you in the shoes of a cybersecurity analyst for a fictional government agency, reminiscent of Uplink. Instead of the generic hackers buffing their skills in a vast world, you’re a law enforcement official going through the digital remnants of criminals.
The game starts simply, allowing you to uncover hidden files or access employee emails, where even the mischief of hackers is laid bare in their correspondence. As the levels progress, the challenges become more intricate, leading you to combine clues or even navigate multiple connections at once to gather evidence against illicit activities.
Unlike Uplink’s free-roaming environment, Cyber Warrior steers you towards specific tasks and puzzles, making it feel more deliberate and purpose-driven. This narrowing of objectives still retains an engaging puzzle-solving element, creating an interesting take on the hacking simulation genre.
If you want to try out Cyber Warrior, it’s available on Steam at a discounted price.
