'They Listened! They listened!': Stalker Restores Soviet Monument After Fan Backlash on Steam Reviews

GSC Game World has reintroduced a significant Soviet monument in response to fan demands after negative Steam reviews for the Stalker remaster.

After fan backlash which caused the Stalker trilogy’s Steam reviews to drop to ‘mostly negative’, GSC Game World has announced the release of patch 1.0.1 for the remastered games. This update addresses several technical issues, including crashes and problems with game settings, while crucially restoring a previously removed Soviet monument located near the Chornobyl power plant.

Fans are excited to see the return of the monument that reads in Russian: “ChAES in the name of VI Lenin.” Many have expressed their satisfaction, highlighting the importance of Soviet landmarks in the atmospheric storytelling of the game.

“THEY LISTENED! THEY LISTENED! THEY LISTENED!” - A popular post on the Stalker subreddit.

GSC Game World states in their patch notes a commitment to continue improving the trilogy based on player feedback, indicating that additional fixes for other reported issues will be forthcoming. The nostalgia and historical significance of the monuments enhance the game’s connection to its setting, which remains crucial among fans.
