The gaming community is buzzing over Overwatch 2’s new collaboration with Street Fighter 6. Seems like some players are not thrilled about what has been dubbed the ‘Widowmaker Butt Nerf’. As the skins roll out, players are voicing their frustrations online, recalling past controversies surrounding character designs in the game.

One player quipped, “They won’t be able to dethrone Marvel Rivals by having a half-assed Cammy skin,” hinting at their dissatisfaction with design quality.

The backlash isn’t new. A similar event occurred back in 2016, where Blizzard adjusted another character’s design after community feedback on perceived sexualization. This resulted in even more complaints about censorship, culminating in the introduction of a new pose that still highlighted the character’s physique.

In light of recent tensions, some players laughed off the overreactions, comparing it to prior incidents and emphasizing that it’s common practice for games to collaborate and alter character designs. As the debate rounds out, many users are left wondering where the line lies between artistic interpretation and player demand.

While some are disheartened by the changes, others appreciate the humor and the nostalgia the discussions bring back to the gaming world.
