Data Miners Uncover Possible Insights on Upcoming World of Warcraft Player Housing Features

Recent data mining efforts have revealed potential details about the upcoming player housing feature in World of Warcraft, sourced from the Cataclysm Classic public test realm.

Recently, dataminers have made intriguing discoveries related to the much-anticipated player housing feature for World of Warcraft. These findings originate from the Cataclysm Classic public test realm (PTR), an unexpected source for such information.

Player housing has been a long-desired feature in the MMO that has been captivating audiences for 20 years. It is expected to debut in the forthcoming expansion named Midnight. However, details about its design remain unclear.

The discoveries were shared by WoWHead, highlighting files indicative of housing options. One significant file bears the name PlayerHousingConstantsDocumentation.lua, relevant for coding in the gaming environment. There’s speculation on its presence in a Classic server, suggesting a quirk in the system.

As one player noted, “The Interface files from the export are the same across all WoW versions. There’s one master set of Interface files, and every version loads what it uses, just like how addon .toc files work now…”

It seems logical that Blizzard would develop housing features first in the retail version rather than Classic. Early glimpses into potential options reveal various themes, including categories like ‘Folk,’ ‘Rugged,’ and ‘Opulent’ for designing interiors, as well as customizing the exterior with at least one theme labeled ‘Human.’

Additionally, the dataminers uncovered hints about permissions allowing players to arrange decor elements, a critical aspect for customizing personal spaces. World of Warcraft players have long awaited such flexibility since earlier attempts at housing with Garrisons fell short.

Although these features are still in a speculative stage, the potential for customization could lead to a fulfilling player experience, echoing the enthusiasm players have expressed over the years.
