Take-Two's CEO Justifies GTA 6 Delay as Key for Optimal Quality

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick defends the delay of GTA 6, attributing it to the desire for excellence in game development, despite not being a gamer himself.

The announcement regarding the delay of Grand Theft Auto 6 has been met with a mix of anticipation and disappointment. Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, emphasized that the postponement is crucial for the development team at Rockstar Games to create an exceptional gaming experience. In an interview, Zelnick stated, “Rockstar Games is trying to create the best thing anyone’s ever seen in entertainment, not just interactive entertainment, and that’s a tall order.”

The excitement surrounding GTA 6 remains palpable; a recent trailer amassed 475 million views within 24 hours of its release, setting a new record. However, with such high expectations from fans, Zelnick believes it is wise to take additional time in order to polish the game to perfection, noting, “The delay itself is really a reflection of the desire to polish and create the best possible experience for consumers.”

Interestingly, Zelnick admits that he doesn’t play video games, taking a stance that leads him to focus on guiding his team rather than being directly involved in consumer feedback. He has reiterated that Take-Two’s commitment to high-quality entertainment has been a cornerstone of its lasting success.
