A Unique Pokémon Exhibition Featuring Fossils to Debut in the U.S.

A Pokémon fossil exhibition blending fantasy with reality is set to open at Chicago's Field Museum in May 2026.

The Pokémon Fossil museum has announced an exciting exhibition at Chicago’s Field Museum, set to open in May 2026. This unique showcase will display Pokémon-inspired fossil replicas alongside actual fossils, allowing visitors to compare the two.

For instance, SUE, the famous Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil at the Field Museum, will be displayed next to the Pokémon Tyrantum, providing an engaging experience for both fans and paleontology enthusiasts alike.

Additionally, the exhibition will feature the Chicago Archaeopteryx, which played a significant role in linking dinosaurs to modern birds, displayed alongside the Pokémon Archeops. Although the playful Pokémon theme is designed to attract visitors, the exhibition promises substantial paleontological credibility.

The Pokémon Company notes that this marks the first time the exhibition will travel outside Japan. However, there are hints that it might appear in other locations in years to come.

Since 2022, the Pokémon Company and Toyohashi Museum of Natural History have offered a virtual tour of the exhibition, providing an engaging experience for enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

The Pokémon Fossil exhibition will officially open on May 22, 2026. Tickets are available for booking through the Field Museum’s official website.
