Ubisoft's CEO Announces More Game Delays Following Assassins Creed Shadows Success

Yves Guillemot of Ubisoft reveals future delays to several key titles after the successful launch of Assassins Creed Shadows.

Ubisoft has made a significant decision following the success of Assassins Creed Shadows, which was recently postponed until 2025. The delay allowed the game to flourish. CEO Yves Guillemot shared in an investor call that the developer plans to extend this strategy, allowing for more development time for its upcoming titles. This choice is aimed at ensuring top-quality releases.

Guillemot stated, “We have decided to provide additional development time to some of our biggest productions.”

This proactive approach demonstrates Ubisoft’s commitment to quality, especially after revealing that Assassins Creed Shadows achieved impressive sales figures, marking it as the second highest-selling title on its first day in the franchise’s history. As a result, not only is the company optimistic about future games, but it is also aiming to achieve further cost efficiencies, with plans to save an additional €100 million over the next couple of years.

Guillemot highlighted their previous year’s savings of €200 million and emphasized the importance of creating the right conditions for success.
