Magic: The Gathering Introduces Final Fantasy Magic Set Including Iconic Characters
The new Magic: The Gathering set features multiple versions of iconic characters from the Final Fantasy series, including Cid and Cloud.
In contrast to many Final Fantasy games where certain characters like Biggs and Wedge appear, a recurring character is Cid, featured in various forms throughout the series.
For instance, in Final Fantasy 7, Cid Highwind serves as the pilot of the party’s airship, while in Final Fantasy 16, Cidolfus Telamon is an outlaw whose base becomes your home. The card game Magic: The Gathering is set to introduce a new Final Fantasy set, featuring a card titled Cid, Timeless Artificer, which supports artifact creatures and heroes. Interestingly, there’s no limit on the number of copies you can include in your deck.
This upcoming set will also showcase 15 variations of Cid, from different titles in the series, including the original from Final Fantasy 2, Cid Del Norte Marguez from Final Fantasy 6, and Cid Fabool IX from Final Fantasy 9. Each character not only stands as a tribute to their original designs but also plays into the game’s mechanics. Additionally, a card depicting Cloud’s date at the Gold Saucer will take various forms, allowing players to explore different narrative paths.
The Final Fantasy x Magic: The Gathering set will launch on June 13, offering four preconstructed commander decks led by Cloud, Terra, Tidus, and Y’shtola, marking a significant addition to Magic’s Universes Beyond crossover series.
