Soundcloud has proven to be an invaluable resource for discovering talent in the gaming industry. Recently, Guillaume Broche, director of the hit RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, unearthed his composer, Lorien Testard, on Soundcloud. Testard had no prior experience in video games but created a remarkable score featuring 154 tracks that spans over eight hours.
“Somehow it worked, which still makes no sense to me after all these years.”

The soundtrack’s success parallels the game’s soaring popularity. In an unconventional turn, the lead writer, Jennifer Svedberg-Yen, was discovered on Reddit when she applied for a voice acting role, demonstrating the potential of online platforms in connecting creative talents.
Broche noted that such serendipitous meetings were facilitated by the increased online presence of creatives during the COVID-19 pandemic. “We have an amazing team, mostly of junior people, who are incredibly invested in the project and talented,” he stated.
With the development of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, not only were paths crossed through these platforms, but the collaborative spirit and shared visions among the team have driven the game’s impressive achievements.
