Oblivion's Creators Reunite to Reflect on the 2006 Documentary

The original developers of Oblivion come together to watch a documentary about its making, sharing their insights and emotions during the viewing.

In 2006, Bethesda Softworks produced a documentary chronicling the development of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, showcasing the scale of this ambitious project. Recently, in celebration of the successful release of Oblivion Remastered, the original team members reunited to watch this documentary.

“How exciting is it to witness this group together?” Todd Howard remarked to the audience. His response indicated that it stirred emotions in him: “I’m more moved than I anticipated. It has been quite a journey, everyone.” However, he humorously added, “This is going to be really f**king awkward, watching this.”

As the viewing commenced, Howard expressed that despite his apprehension, the experience wasn’t uncomfortable, but rather nostalgic: “It was as awkward as I thought, but when I see it and look around the room, it feels familiar.”

The making of Oblivion has been a monumental task for a small team, and it resonated through the viewing of this documentary. Pete Hines noted, “It felt like a very compact group. We were a tight-knit team, not far more than the people present today.”

For those wishing to relive these memories, the original Making of Oblivion documentary is included with The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Collectors Edition, or you can watch the entire film on YouTube.
