Evil Dead: The Game Pulled from Sale After Just Three Years

Saber Interactive reveals the removal of the multiplayer horror title without disclosing the reasons behind the decision.

Just three years after its debut—and only a year after making its way to Steam—Evil Dead: The Game is being taken off the market. Saber Interactive has confirmed this action is deliberate, but the underlying reasons remain a mystery.

The game unexpectedly vanished from the Epic Games Store and the PlayStation Store. Initially thought to be a mere oversight, a statement released today on Steam verifies that the game’s removal is indeed intentional and affects all platforms.

Saber Interactive stated, “We can confirm we’ve begun the process of removing the game from digital storefronts. Anyone who has purchased the game will still be able to play it as we plan to keep our servers online for everyone.”

The announcement did not elaborate on the rationale for the takedown, leading to speculation that it may relate to licensing issues or rights expiration. Historical examples suggest this is a plausible explanation, as seen with other titles experiencing similar removals due to various licensing challenges.

Despite dwindling player counts on Steam—recorded as low as 36 concurrent players according to SteamDB—the servers are expected to remain operational for existing players.

For those eager to experience Evil Dead: The Game, it is still available for purchase through various Steam key retailers like Fanatical, Green Man Gaming, GamersGate, and Humble Store.
