A Disturbing Incident Involving a Gaming Mouse
A Reddit user recently shared a shocking account of their Gigabyte mouse, which reportedly caught fire, producing large flames and thick black smoke. According to the user’s claims:
“Black smoke filled the room. I quickly extinguished the fire, but exhaled a lot of smoke in the process and my room is in a bad shape now, covered with black particles… Fortunately we avoided the worst, but the fact that this can happen is still shocking.”
The mouse in question is an older model, known as the Gigabyte M6880X, which the user describes as a wired optical mouse. Gigabyte has acknowledged the incident and stated they are investigating the matter:
“We have been made aware of the incident… Our customer’s safety is our top priority and we are actively looking into this case.”
This alarming situation has sparked discussions within the gaming community, prompting users to speculate whether internal lint buildup might have contributed to such a dangerous fault.
Given the model’s specifications, this event should not typically occur, raising concerns about the safety of similar products.
