Limited Stock of Nvidia's RTX 5090 and 5080 Ahead of Launch
UK retailer Overclockers UK warns of extremely limited stock for Nvidia's RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 graphics cards just before their launch.
UK Retailer Alerts on Limited Nvidia Stock
Save your pennies.
Amid various rumors, staff at Overclockers UK confirmed on their forums that stock for the upcoming Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 graphics cards will be extremely limited upon release. As of a week before the launch, they expect to have only a “single digit” quantity of the RTX 5090 models available.
Purchasing Manager Andrew Gibson noted:
“Initial waves of supply are poor and will probably take some time to build up. So the stock we have will be made available from the launch via the webshop but I know what we have is likely to last only seconds, minutes at most.”
This shortage aligns with expectations of higher demand compared to the previous RTX 40-series. Gibson also mentioned that more RTX 5080 units would be available, but still only in a limited number of “few hundred” units.
Stock issues aren’t just confined to the UK. A US retailer, PowerGPU, also indicated on social media that the launch of the RTX 5090 may suffer from availability challenges, predicting it will be the worst in terms of inventory for at least three months.
Potential Causes of Limited Supply
Gibson speculates that proximity to Chinese New Year could be impacting this limited supply scenario, which is being echoed by multiple sources. Consequently, customers might want to be prepared for potential stock drops following the launch, especially for the RTX 5090 Founders Edition and various third-party cards.
