Tenderfoot Tactics Withdraws from Xbox Store in Support of Pro-Palestine Boycott
The developers of Tenderfoot Tactics have decided to remove their game from the Xbox Store as a show of support for the ongoing pro-Palestine boycott.
Following the revelation of the Israeli military’s use of Microsoft’s AI tools during operations in Gaza, the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement criticized Microsoft for its alleged complicity in what they termed as illegal actions against Palestinians.
One developer from the team behind Tenderfoot Tactics, a strategy-RPG game, announced publicly that they have decided to withdraw their game from the Xbox Store. This move was made in alignment with the pro-Palestine boycott campaign. Badru, a designer/programmer of the game, stated, “The Tenderfoot Tactics team has decided to remove our game from sale on Xbox in solidarity with the Palestinian-lead Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions campaign, which added Xbox to their priority boycott list earlier this month.”
The BDS campaign urged others to take action against Microsoft, recommending a boycott of the company while pushing for institutions to divest from it. The removal of Tenderfoot Tactics marks a significant move within the gaming industry, potentially influencing other studios to take similar actions.
