If you want to experience a new game from the creators of Into the Breach, you’ll need a Playdate console.
The Playdate has emerged as a unique platform, attracting notable developers to create quirky games. Last week’s Playdate Update livestream showcased a host of new titles for the second season of the micro-console, including Fulcrum Defender, a crank-operated shooter.
Jay Ma, co-founder of Subset Games, explained during the event, “The fundamental gameplay is straightforward: aim with the crank and shoot. My intention with Fulcrum Defender was to bring some of the fun associated with survival games while leveraging the joyful mechanics of the Playdate’s hand crank.”
Despite initial doubts regarding the game’s completion due to personal health issues, Ma found motivation in the project’s potential and managed to push through to create this engaging experience.
Keep your eyes peeled for its release on May 29, where it will be made available as part of the upcoming game bundle on Playdate.
