Intel is currently receiving attention for its latest CPU series, Arrow Lake, but news about its successor, Nova Lake, has surfaced. Recently spotted on a shipping manifest by a user on X, it appears Nova Lake may include a lower-end variant akin to the i3 series, although Intel’s updated naming conventions have muddied the waters.
“Don’t Stop!馃槑 Intel Nova Lake!” - X86 is dead&back, January 21, 2025
Intel has yet to share much information about Nova Lake, only confirming that most of its components will be produced in-house. The chip is expected to reach the market between 2026 and 2027, but specific details regarding the fabrication process remain scant. Speculation suggests a potential 14A production node, although evidence is still lacking.
The architecture of Nova Lake will notably revert to a chiplet design, yet the layout remains uncertain. It is rumored that Nova Lake will incorporate CPU cores called Coyote Cove, derived from Panther Lake, alongside Arctic Wolf E-cores. A major question looming over Nova Lake’s development is whether the anticipated 18A silicon will meet initial expectations.
Despite the uncertainty and the underwhelming performance of Arrow Lake, anticipation for Nova Lake remains high. As with previous innovations like Lunar Lake, there is hope that Intel can regain its competitive edge in the semiconductor market, especially among PC enthusiasts.
