As much as I enjoy diving deep into ravines in pursuit of diamonds or traveling to the Nether only to fall into lava, sometimes I feel like Minecraft needs a bit of a break. After all, there’s only so many times you can have a creeper demolish your home before you switch to peaceful mode and start afresh as a farmer.

Luckily, a new DLC titled Hello Kitty and Friends is here, focusing on the calmer side of Minecraft gameplay. Instead of a sprawling world, you’ll find yourself managing a quaint farm in a limited town.

This DLC introduces new crops and animals while offering fresh decor inspired by Hello Kitty and Sanrio characters, moving away from Minecraft’s previous limitations. From now on, you can decorate with actual furniture instead of cobbling things together with pressure plates.

In addition, the DLC brings rotating seasons that impact farm activities, ensuring that tasks remain engaging. You’ll have to mind the seasonal challenges like heatwaves or typhoons, adding a layer of complexity to gameplay.

For fans of Sanrio, the highlight of this expansion is the charming characters like Tuxedo Sam and PomPomPurin, who will give out quests as you farm. Their quirky tasks and rewards add a delightful twist that echoes experiences from games like Animal Crossing.

Even though it retains Minecraft’s signature blocky aesthetic, this DLC carves out a special niche in the gaming landscape for those who adore farming simulators and cute characters.
